the perfect house – i found it
let me tell you about a perfect house i have found.
half way between sagres and vila do bispo, in a small hamlet of maybe 6 or 7 houses.
4 bedrooms, two anexes, a big plot of land and a sea view.═ one small snag, the old lady wants 23 million esudos for it, (115.000 euros).═ the place is gorgeous, fig trees in the garden and is livable as it is.═ the only snag is i am 15.000 euros short of the asking price.═ on monday i will bid her my absolute maximum for the property but i dont think she will take it but i have to try, my max bid will be 20 million escudos.═ the property is worth a lot more than she is asking and has all services conneted too.═ a typically portuguese home, all of the doors are so low i have to duck to get in all of them.═ small windows with wooden shutters on the inside, wood beam ceilings, tiled floors and two pig stys in the garden………this is perfect!═ I found it purely by chance, i was road testing a car and for some reason i went on the old road to sagres……i stopped by these houses for no reason and saw a sign under a tree.═ we called them straight away and went to see the house that night.
the gardens are huge and tidy, there is also a separate outbuilding that she uses for grinding her own flower and doing her washing.═ in the second annex there is an old stone oven that she uses for baking her bread.═ this place is amazing……i have to have it.═ on monday we will see……….

alive and well and off for a surf in mo,…..weather is glorious again and half of he country is still on fire.

woke up yesterday morning to smoke filled skies, the fires are getting closer!
it is unbelievable to see the news here and realise how much of portuga lis burning. in one town alone, 11 firefighters died trying to save the town.
the tourists are driving me crazy, hence why i havent posted for a while. still, one more week and they will all go home. september is the best month here.
Gave sandra her camera back at the weekend so dont expect any new photos for a while. she is very sexy and extremely annoyed with me after we had a chat at the weekend. I tried my best to explain but just made things worse….oh well.
next month i have visitors…..alex, dean rupert and christine all in one month. mind you, dean and rupert still havent told me when they are coming so they might find themselves waiting at the airport for a while.
enough for now, just needed to let you all know i am alive and well and not burned toa crisp just yet
august is nearly over
thank god……i know its not good to wish your life away but it has been as busy as hell here, if there wasnt so much work i would have gone somewhere else.
Anyway, in the news, portugal is burning. Each night they issue fire risk alerts, the highest being 5 the lowest being 1. Half of the country is on a level 5, the other half is on level 4 – the place is so dry from lack of rain it is burning. The authorities are even asking people to fell trees within 100metres of their houses!
last weekend i hid at toleiro, not a tourist hot spot as zou have to climb down the cliffs to get to it, surf was real lame but at least there was a small wave so i had two beach dazs, just me and my longboard.
have also stayed awaz from the bars, they are heaving still but it will all end soon.
the weather todaz is cloudy and windy so the roads are full.
hopefully the swell is building for the weekend – fingers crossed
bank holiday monday
i just walked in the bubble for a coffee before i go shopping and the pc was free so i thought i should write you all a little message.
last night in the bubble the music wasnt too good so i turned my attention to people watching. all the trendies are here for their holidays – all wearing the same gear, big surf brand names and i wonder why………when they shop, do they not have any individuality, can they only see clothes with quiksilver, ripcurl, billabong etc? no one has their own identity, they just blend in with the crowd.
there was one guy who dared to be different but i would say that a ´brian adams on tour´t shirt and a hair cut to match is simply completely wrong!!!!!!! at least he tried.
so today is a bank holiday monday – rammed with lisbonites but it wont last much longer. september is just around the corner, empty beaches, warm water and winter swells to amuse me for the next six months.
the trendyness even extends to swell forecasts, everyone looks at the same web site, which for me isnt relly that good………not surprising really as it is a site for windsurfers.
While i was surfing yesterday afternoon i was distracted by a topless girl on a bodyboard paddling out along side me. come on girls, this surf lark is hard enough without you coming out half naked!!
so anyway, just added some new photos – i am off shopping now and then to the beach for the afternoon. maybe be back later – who knows
sunday mornings
woke at 7.30 today and hit mareta, in the water before 8am in just my shorts.
not very good though, a nice wave but bang on high tide but i was desperate to get in before the emmets got here.
will try again mid afternoon when the tide is on the push.
other news this week……….i decided as gorgeous as she was, sandra just wasnt the girl for me…..here´s looking forward to another 8 months of celebacy.
off to work shortly, oil and filter for henry! finally got my spare parts for the brakes after waiting for nearly two months.

since wednesday (for the technically minded)
i have been working on this old snotter. A 1990 landcruiser.
the mountings for the pedal boxes had completely rotted away so that when you pushed the clutch, it didnt actually operate the clutch, just moved the pedal box instead.
in england, this car would have been taken to the scrap yard but over here, a vehicle like this is still worth around 5000 euros so we have to fix them up. Gonna cost the guy the best part of three days labour but he will be happy.
new slave and master cylinder repair kits and honed out the cylinders for good measure too.
all will be peachy.
it is amazing what we fix over here, in blighty, it is always ´fit new´
anyway, this weekend is a bank holiday so it is going to get even busier here with tourists. i am going to work tomorrow morning and fix my car in the afternoon, might try a sneaky dawnie before work but the surf has been real lame this week.
