live8

this place is so remote, i didnt hear about this concert until the day before !!!

Anyway, the house……..i spoke with a builder who already knew this place, he had looked at it two years ago.  he tells me it needs a new floor too because the water soaks up when it rains, so i am hoping to see it again this weekend with him so that we can explain to the woman that is selling, he reckons it is only worth 40k.  he also reckoned he priced the materials to repair at 30k!

some rethinking to go on here.

yesterday christine arrived.  today we spent the whole day at the beach but christine left early to sleep.  there has been no surf now for a week and a half so getting a little tetchy.

yesterday i hurt my ankle but have no idea how. i struggled to walk last night but it is much better now, still limping but not too much.  good job i cant surf anyway.

officially – i now have a girlfriend – a cute city girl from lisboa, sandra, 28, great jugs, curvy ass and the smallest white bits you ever did see.  the same city girl that pissed me off last weekend , leading to my comments about city girls taking their heads out of their arses.

so, keep watching for news on the house scene soon

so scary

house buying in a foreign country.

today , the owner of the house i am looking at calle din at work with the papers for me to see.  the last couple of days have been a little nerve racking to say the least.  Picture this, i am in a forgein country, on the verge of investing nearly 100.000 euros and i am at the complete mercy of strangers (with the exception of russ and sarah)

my thoughts at the moment are ´what if it all goes wrong´ i wonder how i could manage to earn so much money again, especially at the ripe old age of 35.

so last night was completely sleepless.

the house is perfect for what i want, could easily sleep 6, more with a sofa bed.  in the heart of raposeira and with the rear courtyard not overlooked at all.

the walls of the house are solid, the roof isnt.  so long as i dont change the outside walls, i do not need a project.  i can change the roof, but by no more than 40 cms in height.  inside, i can do whatever i want, provided i dont use pillars or do anything that requires iron re-enforcement.  this is good because it means i can build a wooden mezzanine and a wooden roof – just imagine the smell of all of that wood.

so it seems perfect, an opportunty not to miss.

i figured today that i should offer 60.000 in cash and see if she takes it, if she does, then it is all systems go.

pay a deposit and while the papers are sorted (3 months) i can move in and start the work.

when you pay a deposit here in portugal, if the seller then declines the sale, they have to pay double in return, by law!  so, when th edeposit is paid, the deal is almost signed and sealed, normally the owner will let you move in nad start any work.

so on saturday, i veiw again with another builder to get a price for a new roof, the builder is also a customer at work so i am happy i can trust him.

so – by the weekend, i expect to have some purchase news…….fingers crossed.

russ reckons i cant really go wrong, i would always get my oney back if i bought is and sold it again.

gorgeous george galloway

last time i used that strap line, i got over 300 hits in a week.  maybe i will start using random celebrity names instead ?

so today started cloudy, the wind was from the east (spain).  spain is so full of crap that a light breeze can blow it all over here – here´s looking forward to some southerly or westerlys.  north winds are too cold.

its raining

well it was but it stopped as quickly as it started – but not before knocking the power out, seems the grid here cant cope with a little rain

lazy sunday afternoons

been a perfect day, apart from the fact there was no surf !!!

spent the afternoon at the beach with two hot portuguese honeys !  i am in paradise!!

so another week over and maybe have found the perfect residence, just have to negotiate on the price a little. life is good, life is grande – why didnt i do this sooner? because i didnt have the money, thats why.

so keep watching this space to see what happens this week.

city chicks

need to take their heads out of their arses!

bomb attacks in london

through the media of internet, i am reading about what is unfolding in blighty.

liek all of you , wondering who is behind it all and why they would want to do it in the first place.

my first thoughts are with the innocents caught up in all of this, ordiinary people just going about their own business.

But it doesnt take long for other thoughts to filter through!

i cant help but think that england has become a soft target in recent years, all politicians are too scared to do what they need to do incase of loosing voters.  Instead, they pussyfoot around like spineless jellyfish.  I dont aim my comments at any one particular party but at all of them – they are all as bad!

I always remember the iranian embassy seige in the 80´s when thatcher was in power.  She had little regard for how the media might report what she did, more so, the message she sent out to any would be terrorists was – if you threaten england, you will pay with your life.

now, war is fought not with the bullet or the bomb but with the media and the internet.

Dont misunderstand me – i am not a war monger, i would much prefer world peace – i am a tree loving hippie after all.  Ask yourself what must be done to ensure our own security and the answer becomes simple. Defence is defence, and sadly to maintain our own safety , we inevitably will have to kill others that want to kill  us, me , you, your family and friends.  Faced with the decision of killing other people or watching your own family die – which woudl you choose – it is a very simple question.

The problem we face is that the enemy is prepared to die for what they believe. I listen to the anti war establishment but am left wondering what they would have done on 9/11, would they have stood on the top of those buildings waving their arms at the planes flying at them?  pleading with the pilots to turn around?  Yes , they probably would have, they are passionate for what they believe but so were the pilots of those planes, nothing would have stopped them except removing their ability to get in the planes in the first place.

so where do we go from here?  as events still unfold, people die and injured get treated, we dont know.

When we do know – i beleive that everything should be done to completely remove this threat so that it could not perform in this way again.

Of course there will be those who claim my view is undemocratic – in theory it may be, but remember, these people dont come from , or recognise democratic rights or backgrounds themselves but most importantly , if you look in a dictionary for democracy , it mentions nothing about negotiating and and having your voice heard with bombs and bullets.

England has become a soft target in recent years, thats my belief , and thats why i moved out of the country.  Until the english are prepared to defend what they want, their country and their beliefs, england will have no defence.

sorry if i bored you

my last thoughts are with the innocents of this attack!

jake

rita just saw a picture of jake via msn messenger – i asked if she recognised him?  she said – he looks like your brother!!!!!!!

oh yeah – so i must look real young or does jake look old ?

mallorca for the winter ?

so let me tell you about my new friends.

Mike and tracy.  mike is south african , tracy english, two young boys, benji and alex.

i first met mike and tracey last september when i was out here on holiday, they didnt have th ekids with them that time.

we met again this year at the bubble lounge , purely by coincidence.

both of them have their own businesses in mallorca, mike has a marine engineering business.  He tells me that he gets really busy from january to march, which is when we get really quiet here.  Mike says he thinks he will have plenty of work if i wanted to go for a while, so, in the spirit of adventure, and being a mechanic i reckon i will head there after alex leaves portugal on january 4th.

i would like to go until maybe the end of february , maybe even longer, depending on how busy russ gets here.

there is of course – surf to the north of the island!!!!

would be good to try something new but i wouldnt want to live there, this place is too cool to leave for ever.

so i will start planning my trip soon and spend the winter repairing yachts in mallorca – i reckon i will enjoy this too.

where did the clouds go?

seems they cleared up pretty quick.

spent the best part of the afternoon at the portuguese MOT station, that was an experience!
